Al Ihsan Specialist Hospital – Hargeisa is a soon-to-open, state-of-the-art multi-specialty referral and teaching hospital established to deliver advanced, safe, and compassionate healthcare services in Somaliland and the wider Horn of Africa. With a planned capacity exceeding 200 beds, the hospital is designed to provide comprehensive medical, surgical, and diagnostic care across multiple specialties, supported by modern operating theaters, intensive and critical care units, advanced imaging, laboratories, and specialized centers including cardiology, oncology, nephrology and dialysis, and ophthalmology.

As a teaching institution, Al Ihsan Specialist Hospital is committed to clinical excellence, postgraduate medical education, and continuous professional development. Job Overview

We are recruiting qualified and motivated Clinical & Technical Professionals to join our multidisciplinary team across diagnostic, surgical, critical care, pharmacy, and clinical engineering departments.

Successful applicants will demonstrate strong technical competence, adherence to patient safety and quality standards, and the ability to work collaboratively within a modern, high-acuity hospital environment.

The role requires professionalism, accountability, and a strong commitment to delivering safe, efficient, and patient-centered healthcare services in alignment with international standards.

Available Positions

1 Laboratory

Senior Medical Laboratory Technologist

Full-Time

·         Education: Bachelor’s (or higher) in Medical Laboratory Science/Technology; valid professional license.

·         Experience:

·         Minimum 10+ years in accredited hospital laboratories.

·         Proven managerial or supervisory experience (minimum 3–5 years leading laboratory teams)

2 Laboratory

Medical Laboratory Technician (Multi-Skilled)

Full-Time

·         Education: Bachelor’s in Medical Laboratory Technology; valid registration.

·         Experience: Minimum 3 years bench experience across ≥2 sections.

3 Anesthesia & OT

Anesthesia Technician

Full-Time

·         Education: Bachelor’s in Anesthesia Technology.

·         Experience: Minimum 3 years anesthesia support experience.

4 CSSD

CSSD Technician

Full-Time

·         Education: Minimum Diploma/Certificate in CSSD or Sterile Processing.

·         Experience: Minimum 5 years CSSD operations experience.

5 Nephrology & Dialysis

Dialysis Technician

Full-Time

·         Education: Diploma in Dialysis Technology.

·         Experience: Minimum 3 years in hemodialysis units.

6 Ophthalmology

Ophthalmic Technician / Optometrist

Full-Time

·         Education: Diploma/Bachelor’s in Optometry or Ophthalmic Technology; valid license.

·         Experience: Minimum 3 years ophthalmic diagnostics experience.

7 Pharmacy

Pharmacist

Full-Time

·         Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy (BPharm/PharmD); valid professional license.

·         Experience: Minimum 5–7 years hospital pharmacy experience preferred.

8 Clinical Engineering

Biomedical Engineer

Full-Time

·         Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering or related field.

·         Experience: Minimum 5–7 years hospital biomedical experience.

Skills and qualifications

General Requirements

Education & License: Relevant Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, or higher qualification in the respective field from a recognized institution + valid professional license/registration (where applicable).

Experience: Minimum 5–7 years of hospital-based experience in the relevant specialty, preferably within accredited or tertiary-care settings.

Professional Certifications (Preferred): Relevant specialty certifications (e.g., Advanced Cardiac Life Support for critical care roles, CSSD certification for sterile services, etc.).

Clinical & Technical Governance: Adherence to patient safety standards, infection prevention protocols, quality assurance systems, equipment handling guidelines, and accurate documentation practices.

Digital Competence: Proficiency in EMR/LIS/RIS/PACS/ERP systems (as applicable) and basic computer literacy.

Professional Attributes: Strong teamwork, communication skills, ethical conduct, cultural sensitivity, and commitment to continuous professional development.

Work Pattern: Full-time employment with rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and on-call duties as scheduled.

Compliance: Strict adherence to hospital bylaws, regulatory requirements, patient-safety standards, and institutional quality protocols.
