Job Title: Structural Engineer (Local Hire – Somaliland)

Location: Hargeisa

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Structural Engineer based in Somaliland to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and overseeing structural projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards and engineering best practices. You will collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to deliver high-quality, sustainable structures.

Key Responsibilities:

1.  Design & Analysis:

•       Perform structural calculations, simulations, and modeling using software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD. Pro, AutoCAD, Revit).

•       Design structural components (beams, columns, foundations, etc.) using concrete, steel, timber, and masonry.

•       Ensure designs comply with local regulations, ACI, AISC, Eurocodes, and IBC standards.

2.  Project Management:

•       Prepare and review structural drawings, specifications, and technical reports.

•       Coordinate with architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

•       Monitor construction progress to ensure adherence to design intent.

3.  Site Inspections & Safety:

•       Conduct site visits to assess structural integrity and resolve construction issues.

•       Investigate structural failures or defects and propose remediation plans.

•       Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

4.  Technical Documentation:

•       Prepare feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost estimates.

•       Maintain accurate project records and design documentation.

5.  Innovation & Compliance:

•       Stay updated on industry trends, sustainable design practices, and new software tools.

•       Implement best practices to optimize structural performance and cost-efficiency.

Skills and qualifications

•       Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil/Structural Engineering or related field.

•       Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility is a plus.

•       Experience: 2-4 years in structural design, analysis, or construction projects.

•       Software Proficiency: AutoCAD, Revit, ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, Mathcad, or similar.

•       Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork abilities.
