Humanity & Inclusion (HI) is an independent and impartial international aid
organization working in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict and
disaster. Working alongside people with disabilities and other vulnerable
groups, our actions are focused on responding to their essential needs,
improving their living conditions and promoting respect for their dignity and
their fundamental rights. HI was the co-winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1997
for its role in the International Campaign to Ban Landmines. Handicap International – Humanity & Inclusion (HI) started in
Somalia in 1992 by setting up a rehabilitation center in Hargeisa. HI’s strategy
in Somalia is to advocate for the rights of persons with disabilities and to
engage development actors to promote inclusion and participation of persons
with disabilities and other vulnerable people at local and national level. RESPONSIBILITY OF THE POSITION ROLE
OF THE EMPLOYEE Position will be based in Mogadishu,
under the direct line-management of Technical Officer -Inclusive Humanitarian
Action. He/she works closely with the rest of the programmes technical team,
and more specifically with the Field Technical Specialist who advises him/her.
She/he will be responsible to: Responsibility 1: Provide technical
support to projects in accordance with the technical frameworks and general
standards in application within his or her sectoral scope • Carries out technical tasks assigned
by the Project Manager in accordance with internal quality and technical
standards. • Provides appropriate technical
support to project manager and/or specialist. • Adapts project documentation as
required, in accordance with global technical standards and norms. • Where appropriate, assists in
coordination and collaboration with the project's technical partners, by
delegation from the specialist(s) or project manager. • Support in documenting good
practices such as in organization of KIIs, FGDs and case studies collection • Support the project Manager and
specialist in monitoring the level of inclusiveness and meaningful access to
provision by persons with disabilities and provide related input for
programming for ensuring activities are responsive, and contextually and
culturally appropriate. • Ensures that the field technical
specialist get the information he need and works with the technical specialist
where necessary. • Collects the information required
for lesson-learning or scientific documentation. • Contributes to technical learning
reporting to the specialist or project manager, based on good practice. • Ensure a proper documentation
(pictures and data collection) of training and learning of partners Responsibility 3: Help disseminate
HI's technical influence within his or her remit and geographical territory • Helps relay information to the
service or territorial authorities. • Mapping of existing key humanitarian
actors on data collection tools and processes. • Mobilizes HI’s technical resources
within his or her remit and according to needs Responsibility 4: Project
Administration and logistical support • Assist in the préparation of reports
and documentation on IHA activités and observations, summarizing key findings
and Progress. • Provide logistical and
administrative support during field visits and related activities. • Support in organizing Focus Group
Discussions (FGD) and Key Informant Interviews (KII) Responsibility 5: Emergency
preparedness and response responsibilities • Helps to support or implement
emergency preparedness actions for the programme(s) and, in an emergency,
adapts his or her working methods to contribute to an effective humanitarian
approach by HI. OTHERS (To demonstrate an ethic and
Professional practice): • Respect beneficiary confidentiality
and accountability. • Treat them with respect and
dignities. • Respect, promote and implement all
HI’s Safe Guarding Policies and report to your line manager any non-respect of
HI’s policies amongst the teams or partners. • Address needs and requests in a
professional way. • Report any incident or act that
causes any harm to beneficiary or to others. • Always interact with children with
the presence of their parents or caregivers. • Always respect a refusal of
treatment. Skills
and qualifications Our Ideal Candidate : • Graduate with a degree in Social
work, or a related field. • Basic understanding of operations
and logistics management. • Proficient in Microsoft Office
(Excel, Word, PowerPoint). • Good communication and interpersonal
skills, with the ability to work as part of a team. • Ability to manage multiple tasks and
meet deadlines. • Interested in working in the NGO
sector and contributing to humanitarian causes. • Fluency in English is required. How
