Organization: Alight DEPARTMENT/COUNTRY PROGRAM DESCRIPTION/MISSION The overall objective of the
ALIGHT in Somalia program is to prevent death and alleviate human suffering among
affected internally displaced persons (IDPs) in settlements and host communities
where we work. ALIGHT has embarked on WASH, Health, Protection, shelter, and
livelihood activities in lower juba region of Somalia and health and WASH
program in both Banadir, Middle Shabelle Jubaland, Sool region and maroodijeex
of Somaliland expand to other parts of the Country. Alight is taking a
multi-sectoral approach in responding to the severe drought conditions through
a range of activities including Health, Relief Commodities and WASH. The Somalia Program of the Alight has fully-fledged
offices in Mogadishu, Kismayo, Dhobley, Afmadow, Hargeisa,
and Las Anod in Somaliland besides a liaison office in Nairobi, Kenya. Alight
is working closely with national and regional authorities and with several
Somalia-based international and national organizations to galvanize coordinated
lifesaving humanitarian assistance to the people in need. PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION ALIGHT is implementing
the Integrated Relief and Nutrition Project in Lower Juba. The Community
Mobilizer will be responsible for conducting field-based project activities and
coordinating with various project stakeholders at ALIGHT, including the
Livelihoods and Food Security (LFS) programme, the Monitoring and Evaluation
(M&E) team, and the Community Engagement and Accountability (CEA) team. The
Mobilizer will be based in Kismayo and will support activities across all
designated project target locations.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY /PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Management / Supervision of facilities
- Conduct the project
awareness through meetings with target communities including elders, community
leaders, civil society groups, and target beneficiaries.
- Sensitize the
beneficiaries with their entitlement and duration for the cycle that they will
be receiving assistance.
- Assist VRC members to
recall selection criteria and identify project beneficiaries in the targeted
communities.
- Assist and work with MEL,
LFS programme team during the participants’ verification to facilitate
follow-up inquiries.
- Conduct manual
registration of the beneficiaries in collaboration with scope registrar and
VRC.
- Conduct regular community
meetings in the project targeted communities to know if they met any
challenges.
- Act as an accountability
focal person and sensitize target communities with the Complaint Response
Feedback Mechanism.
- Undertake
accountability-focused monitoring and share accountability briefs with the
Alight CFM team on a weekly basis.
- Collect market price data
and share with LFS programme team by the end every month.
- Provide updates on the
context of the target community and project progress updates to LFS programme
on weekly basis or daily during the crisis or certain shock(s).
- Perform any other
activities assigned by your supervisor.
Skills
and qualifications
Our
Ideal Candidate:
- We are looking for a
candidate with Secondary certificate or professional certificate, with a
minimum of one-year previous experience in community mobilization.
- Previous work experience
in complex and volatile environments.
- Demonstrated track record
of achieving and documenting results relevant to the responsibilities of the
position.
- Excellent written and
verbal communication skills in English.
- Knowledge of the context
in Jubaland State.
