Duty station:            Kismayo General Hospital – Kismayo.

The position is Permanent

Kismayo General Hospital is advertising General Surgeon Doctor Position locally and nationally in order to process selecting the right professional doctor who is fit for the position. This position is open for experienced Somali surgeons with required qualifications and experience.

Terms of Reference (TOR):

• The General Surgeon Doctor will be primarily responsible for proper surgical therapeutic intervention particularly the patients under his direct care. 
• He / She is able to diagnose and treat the majority of the most common diseases.
•  Performing ward round on a scheduled basis with nurses on duty and prescription of treatment according to the Hospital guidelines and protocols.
• Responsibility of admission and discharge of patients, prescription of medications and other routine procedures.
•  Ensure the ICRC basic principles for the management of war wounds are followed and adapted according to circumstances.
• Ensures treatment protocols (medical & surgical) are followed.
• Ensures aseptic techniques, disinfection and hygiene protocols are adhered to and applied.

Skills and qualifications

• Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS).
•  Post-graduate qualification is preferable.
• At least 7 years’ experience working in general surgery with proof documents.
• Possessing a strong degree of honesty and integrity, and a solid sense of ethics including the ability to appropriately handle confidential information
• A good level of knowledge in Somali and English

Other requirements:

• Ability to lead and manage department teams,
•  Can set and maintain appropriate policies and standards of care expected in the department.
•  Will establish and maintain suitable monitoring tools for quality of services.
• Will maintain data collection tools, providing regular analysis of collected information to the hospital management team.
• Flexible, cooperative and willing to work a new dynamic environment
