Purpose The Director of the IPCS will provide strategic
leadership and management for the Institute, ensuring its academic excellence,
research productivity, and contribution to peace and stability in Somaliland
and the Horn of Africa. The Director will foster a vibrant intellectual
environment, build strong partnerships, and secure resources to support the
Institute's activities. DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic
Leadership and Management: ·
Provide academic and administrative
leadership, ensuring the effective operation of the Institute. ·
Develop and implement a strategic plan
for the IPCS in alignment with the University's overall mission. ·
Oversee the development and
implementation of academic programs, research projects, and outreach
activities. ·
Manage the Institute's budget and
resources effectively. ·
Ensure compliance with university
policies and procedures. Academic
Excellence and Research: ·
Promote and support high-quality
research on peace, conflict, and security issues. ·
Foster a culture of scholarly excellence
and innovation. ·
Encourage faculty and students to
publish research findings in reputable journals and publications. ·
Organize and participate in conferences,
seminars, and workshops. ·
Attract and retain qualified faculty and
researchers. Partnerships
and Outreach: ·
Build and maintain strong partnerships
with government agencies, civil society organizations, international
organizations, and other academic institutions. ·
Develop and implement outreach programs
to disseminate research findings and promote peacebuilding initiatives. ·
Represent the IPCS at national and
international forums. ·
Engage with the local community to
address peace and conflict issues. Fundraising
and Resource Mobilization: ·
Develop and implement a fundraising
strategy to secure financial support for the Institute. ·
Identify and pursue grant opportunities
from national and international donors. ·
Cultivate relationships with potential
donors and partners. Staff
and Student Development: ·
Mentor and support faculty and staff in
their professional development. ·
Promote a positive and inclusive work
environment. ·
Supervise and evaluate the performance
of staff. ·
Support student research and academic

and qualifications
PERSONAL
SPECIFICATION
EDUCATION
AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Education: A Ph.D. in Peace and Conflict
Studies, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in
academic leadership or research management.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting
research on peace, conflict, and security issues.
- Proven track record of publications in
reputable academic journals and publications.
- Experience in fundraising and resource
mobilization.
- Experience in developing and managing
academic programs.
- Experience in building and maintaining
partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Excellent communication and
interpersonal skills.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a
multicultural environment.
- Fluency in English and Somali (written
and spoken).
- Knowledge of the socio-political context
of Somaliland and the Horn of Africa.
