Details of Consultant Drip Irrigation and Installation System.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·       Contribute to training and mentoring on the use of water in irrigation systems, irrigation practice and technologies for government staff and beneficiaries;

·       Inspect and ensure all the irrigation works are carried out according to approved drawings and quality specifications.

·       Insulation irrigation `system thought farmers in Gabilay special arabsio areas

·       Possess and provide necessary resources to undertake works of such magnitude including equipment, personnel and ability to mobilize them on short notice.

·       Monitor the progress of construction and rehabilitation of irrigation scheme and ensure that they are being carried out according to work schedule;

·       Provide overall technical and organizational support for irrigation water management and irrigation practices of crops cultivated by beneficiaries;

·       Monitor water levels in reservoirs and other sources of water;

·       Work with contractors and service providers on the elaboration/revision/modification of plans and designs of irrigation systems;

·       Prepare monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports highlighting any constraints to project implementation and possible solutions to the SCAN.

·       Perform other related duties as required.

·       Natural Resource Management: Implement soil and water conservation measures, including rehabilitation of water sources and irrigation systems.

·       Skills and Qualifications

·       The Consultant must have at least a degree in Agricultural engineering, water and environmental engineering or any other relevant engineering training qualification coupled with three years’ experience doing similar work.

·       The Irrigation Specialist focuses on the supervision, inspection and monitoring of rehabilitation, and construction of irrigation scheme works in the farmers Gabiley District.

·       Experience in developing local storage systems and creating market linkages for producer groups.

·       Knowledge of natural resource management, including soil and water conservation measures.

·       Experience with humanitarian and development programs; experience with UN or INGOs is preferred.

·       Strong understanding of gender transformative programming, climate resilience, and community-based approaches.

Technical Support:

Provide technical guidance and support for water management and conservation activities, addressing engineering challenges as they arise.

Community Engagement:

Work closely with local communities to ensure effective implementation of water conservation practices and address their specific need

Qualifications:

Education: degree Irrigation systems of, supplemented with experience or additional education in education, water hydrological services, agriculture or another related field.

Experience: A minimum of 2 years of progressive working experience in an international project setting is required. Project implementation experience in Somalia is a strong asset.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic.

Knowledge: Experience utilizing computers including word processing, spreadsheet and other software packages.
