King’s Global Health Partnerships (KGHP) and the Somaliland Ministry of Health Development (MoHD) are looking for an individual with extensive communications experience in healthcare, including experience of developing communication strategies. Materials and messages.

We are seeking a consultant to work closely with King’s Global Health Partnership and the Somaliland MoHD to reach the deliverables outlined in this ToR.

This consultant will support our hospital communications work in Somaliland by designing a package of communications tools for the National Healthcare Quality Improvement Project (NQIP).

The communications will be targeted at patients and staff around improvement initiatives in hospitals under the Patient Safety Friendly Hospital Framework.

Working with the Senior Communications Officer in London and the Ministry of Health Development in Somaliland, the consultant will be responsible for delivering a series of communication outputs for the patients and staff of six hospitals in Somaliland.

We are looking for a consultant who has a minimum of 3 to 5 years communications experience incorporating managing social media channels, writing public facing communications materials and designing a media engagement strategy.

Ideally, the consultant will have experience delivering similar work in Africa and have a strong grasp of the health system in Somaliland and KGHP’s approach to partnership.

Deliverables

This consultancy will initially focus on the following deliverables:

v To design a communications strategy for the Patient Safety and IPC Initiatives under the NQIP in Somaliland.

v To design materials communicating messages and initiatives around the Patient Safety Friendly Hospital Framework and Infection Prevention Control guidance. This will include posters, social media messages, radio jingles and others

v To work with the Ministry of Health Development to design any other communications materials relevant to IPC and patient safety.

v Training for IPC and Patient Safety Committee members in the roll out of communication strategies.

This consultancy could also include:

v Working with each of the individual hospitals or MoHD to support the development of a bespoke communication plan roll out for each hospital.

Key internal relationships

This assignment is based in Hargeisa Somaliland with potential for remote support for the right applicant.

v Demonstrable skills as a strong, collegial team player who contributes to a creative and supportive work environment

v Ability to analyse and interpret information, identifying engaging stories to share

v Ability to work proactively as part of a team and co-operatively across teams

v An understanding of and commitment to King’s Global Health Partnership’s vision and values

v Oral and written fluency in the Somali language

v Very strong English communication and writing skills.

v Ability to work autonomously
